PESO Legazpi urges jobseekers to apply online

LEGAZPI CITY, Aug 5 (PIA) -- The Public Employment and Services Office (PESO), this this city urged job seekers to apply online as prevention measure for the transmission of COvid-19.

PESO Legazpi Manager Disodado "Dads" Raneses said their office is implementing digitalization for job applications and posting to fully implement physical distancing and avoid face to face contact between the job seekers and the PESO employees.

"All jobseekers should use their internet connectivity and look for the job vacancies posted by the office of the Public Employment Services of Legazpi. They are also free to follow up their job application through telephone land line or cellular phone," he said.

Companies within the city can transact with PESO Legazpi for posting of their job requirements. Moreover, they must comply with the requirements set by the office.

Raneses said his office is also planning to conduct online jobs fair as opportunity for jobseekers to apply and look for the work they wanted.

He cited that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) have directed the PESO Legazpi to continue the implementation of the Job-Start Program to give more employment opportunities particularly those who belong to the informal sectors or the out of school youth (OSY) aged 18 to 24 years old.

The Job-start program is an employment facilitation initiative of the DOLE with funding support from the Canadian Government and Technical assistance from the (ADB) to assist young Filipinos start their careers and give them a better employment opportunity.

The program is designed to improve the capacity of PESO in providing full-cycle employment facilitation services.

The program aims to enhance the knowledge and skills acquired by the jobseekers in formal education or technical training in order for them to become more responsive to the demands of the labor market. (SAA-PIA5/Albay)
